BRIDES STYLE 2016

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

Choosing a wedding gown can be a daunting task. There are so many styles and designers, it is a bit of a sensory overload. So we are here to help narrow down your choices. Whether you want a classic bridal look or you want to be the epitome of a “modern bride”, we have the latest bridal gown trends for this year, and there is something for everyone.

Elegant V Neckline

In the past the strapless and sweetheart necklines have ruled the wedding industry, and for good reason. They are gorgeous and flattering necklines, but this year is the year of the V-neck. This neckline gives you the flattering and elegant feel of the sweetheart with the edge and sexiness of the plunging v-neck. It really has created a happy medium between the two styles and can be a great match with any style dress. Ball gown, a-line, mermaid style, etc., they all look great with an elegant v-neck.

Blush and Cream colored dresses

Most of you may not know that the white wedding dress trend was made popular in Western culture by Queen Victoria in the 19th Century. Many other cultures have very colorful wedding attire, and our trends are slowly starting to move that way, very slowly. We aren’t’ jumping straight to the vivid colors, although there is nothing saying you can’t do that if that is your style! This year blush and cream colored dresses are trending. Just a few shades away from white, these colors add depth to a wedding ceremony and can be more flattering to all types of skin tones.

Floral and Lace

Lace dresses have been growing in popularity for several years. The rise in boho and rustic style weddings has resurrected the lace dress. However, this year they are adding to it. Lace layers on dresses, floral lace patterns, or floral appliqués added to lace dresses. You can’t go wrong blending the two. Of course, if you want you can always keep the lace traditional or go for a floral printed dress if you want to be untraditionally modern.

Cropped Top/ Separates gown

Speaking of ultra modern, one of the largest growing trends is separates or cropped top gowns, showing just a sliver of skin. If done right it can be very chic and elegant. It is casual meets modern and can be the show stopping number of your modern wedding. Also, if you are getting married in the summer, just think of the extra breezeJ!

Feathers

Another modern style that has become popular is feathers. Whether your entire dress is covered in them or they are accenting the rest of the dress, you are sure to stun the crowd.

Now that you know five of the biggest trends this year, hopefully we have helped you narrow down your search. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of styles for each of these trends. Just try on as many dresses as you want and as many styles, because you may be pleasantly surprised in a dress that “isn’t for your body type” or a style you would “never wear”. And there is nothing that says your dress needs to follow trends. This is your day and your dress needs to be an extension of you. So if you don’t want feathers, lace, flowers, or a color, that’s ok! If you want a feathery lace dress, topped with flowers, and every color of the rainbow, then go for it! You do you on your wedding day.

2014 BIGGEST WEDDING TRENDS PART 2

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

We've been taking a look at some of the biggest wedding trends of 2014.  For additional trends, please see the previous post.

Warm Shoulder

Lace covered shoulders are a big bridal trend.  Whether you have cap sleeves or 3/4 length, a little more coverage can be a great thing.

Remember:  You don't have to have your shoulders covered the entire evening. Talk to your designer and create a removable accessory for the reception.

All in the Family
Try serving dinner family style for a greater variety with your menu, especially when it comes to the sides. Sharing food can also be a fun icebreaker for your guests to get to know other attendees.

Remember:  You'll need additional servers on hand if you want to offer family style for a more formal affair.  They will be available to assist in the passing of plates.

Merry Maids

Your bridesmaid's body types probably aren't the same it can be difficult to find a dress that looks good on everyone. No worries.   These days traditional bridesmaid dress designers are offering collections that allow for multiple variations on the same general style.

Remember:  If you want a more cohesive look, limit the number of styles your bridesmaids can select from.

In Living Color

Since radiant orchid is the pantone color of the year, it might finally be time for pastels and muted tones to take a back seat to their more vibrant counterparts.

Remember:  If you favor a more subdued color pallet, you can always add a pop of color to your rehearsal dinner or farewell brunch.

2014 BIGGEST WEDDING TRENDS

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

So far, 2014 has been a big wedding year and we're not done yet.  Let's take a look at some of the hot wedding trends this year and what you can expect for the rest of 2014.

Back In Black

Formal black tie affairs never go out of style.  But this year couples are opting for all the dapper extras.  You'll see white gloves and bow ties whether they're celebrating in a ballroom or backyard.  There is a tuxedo for every occasion.

Remember:  Your guests need guidance for the dress code.  You should provide attendees with examples of fashion do's and don'ts on your wedding website.

Once Bitten

Your guests won't have to worry about balancing a signature cocktail and appetizer plate if you serve delicious selections that can be eaten with one hand.

Remember:  Work with your caterer to customize your menu and create small, playful options.

Make it Personal

Personal touches are what make your wedding unique and showcase your personality.  Whether it's the monogram on the dance floor or guest's names on the tables, those additional details make a big difference.

Remember:  You don't need a big budget to make a big impression.  A chalkboard display with your dating history or a pictorial timeline are great and inexpensive personal additions.

Let The Flowers Flow

You can't have a wedding without flowers and bouquets are having a big moment in 2014.  Let your floral designer breath new life into your displays with more fluid, asymmetrical arrangements.

Remember:  Balance is important.  If the bridal bouquet is overflowing, you might keep your bridesmaid's flowers in a tighter bunch.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Chandelier

Chandeliers are big right now.  No ceiling?  No problem.  You can hang a chandelier from a tree branch or tent.

Remember:  Less can be more.  A single chandelier can make a big impression while creating a focal point for the I dos.
